Dreamers Academy is a family own and operated with passion to support our community by providing the highest standard of education and care to children. Dreamers Academy is a non – selective school. We have a community of children who vary in skill and ability for that reason we work hand in hand with parents to provide additional support when needed. We have all our committed learning staff double as support team to help with the children before or after school. We recognize that differentiation in class is essential to meet the diverse range of abilities and support all learners throughout their academic journey. Teachers regularly adapt their teaching to meet the needs of individual child. We believe early identification and intervention is the key to future success. We have different levels of support which offers our children who require extra help. This ranges from quality first teaching with additional strategies in class, early morning booster groups, small group interventions.
Each child is treated as an individual and tailor the support they receive to suit their specific needs. Underpinning all our work is the desire to build a child’s confidence in believing they can achieve and succeed.
At Dreamers Academy, our aim is encourage all our children who excel in one area, or across the curriculum as a whole.
Class and specialist teachers are responsible for identifying those children with exceptional ability in a particular subject or area or across a range of subjects or areas. We strive to detect exceptionally able children at the earliest possible stage of schooling and to monitor and support their progress and development.
Our children are challenged and encouraged to go beyond their comfort zone in order to keep them engaged in the learning process. A wide range of extension and enrichment materials and resources are provided to stimulate their interests and enhance their thinking skills. These are regularly updated to ensure that children have the best resources available to them. Additionally, some may be encouraged and supported in completing a self-directed project (between home and school) on a topic that is pertinent to their particular talents and interests. The overriding focus is not on providing children with ‘more of the same’, but is firmly on developing lateral thinking and problem solving skills and on encouraging creativity.
At Dreamers Academy, we believe that ‘Learning for Life’ is an important and necessary part of the curriculum for all the children. There are many building blocks that prepare, develop and help all children in our school to grow into caring, active and thoughtful citizens of the local community and the global community they are part of.
Throughout the Learning for Life curriculum our children will begin to develop the knowledge, skills and attributes they need to keep themselves healthy, safe and prepare for life and work, regardless of where in may be in any part of the world.
Through teaching our diverse, engaging and informative units of work, and allowing our children to have a voice we empower the children to better understand, appreciate and value the world around them. Our aim is for each child to be part of an important group during their time at Dreamers Academy. .
Our Learning for Life curriculum equips our children with a sound understanding of risk and with the knowledge and skills necessary to make safe and informed decisions.
