Teachers provide individualized support to foster students' growth in reading and writing through continuous, formative assessments throughout the year. Each writing unit is evaluated using specific, transparent criteria, and parents receive evidence of the writing process along with unit checklists at the conclusion of each unit.
The MAP Reading Fluency assessment is utilized to collect data on oral reading fluency, literal comprehension, and foundational reading skills.
Assessments are tailored to developmental stages and are conducted using a variety of tools and methods to best support student progress.
Student progress in each unit is evaluated based on clear criteria and established standards, with learning monitored through summative assessments. Parents receive evidence of student learning and unit checklists three times a year.
At the teacher’s discretion, benchmark assessments such as Junior Assessment of Mathematics (JAM) (for KG to Grade 2) or The Global Strategy Stage Assessment (GloSS) (for Grades 3-5) may be used to gain insight into your child's understanding of different mathematics units.
For students in Grades 3-5, fluency with basic math facts is assessed multiple times throughout the year.
tudents participate in integrated assessment activities designed to support and evaluate their learning throughout each science and social studies unit. These tasks encourage students to apply their knowledge, demonstrate critical thinking, and develop a comprehensive understanding of the subject matter. At the conclusion of each unit, students complete a summative assessment that measures their conceptual understanding, content knowledge, and skill development, providing a well-rounded picture of their progress and learning achievements.
Throughout the school year, parents receive end-of-unit checklists and evidence of student work. These materials showcase the student’s progress, strengths, and areas for further growth, fostering transparency and engagement in their educational journey. This approach ensures that parents stay informed and can actively support their child’s learning at home..
At Dreamers Academy, participation in external assessments, including those provided by Cambridge, is an integral part of our commitment to maintaining high educational standards and benchmarking student progress across all grade levels. These external assessments offer a valuable opportunity for students to demonstrate their learning on an international scale and ensure that their knowledge and skills align with global educational expectations.
Students at all grade levels participate in Cambridge assessments tailored to their specific stage of learning. These assessments evaluate a range of core subjects and skills, providing detailed insights into student achievement in areas such as literacy, numeracy, science, and critical thinking. By participating in these assessments, Dreamers Academy is able to gather data that informs instruction, supports targeted interventions, and tracks academic growth over time.
The results from these external assessments help educators refine their teaching strategies and align their curricula to meet international standards. They also offer parents an objective view of their child’s academic progress compared to peers worldwide. This approach strengthens our mission to provide an education that empowers students with the knowledge and skills needed for lifelong success.
