Dreamers Academy Policy and Protocol

Admission Policy

Objective:
To provide a transparent and fair process for enrolling students, ensuring equitable access to Dreamers Academy for all families.

Policy:

  • Dreamers Academy accepts students starting from 1 year of age, without discrimination based on race, religion, ethnicity, or disability.
  • Testing is required for students in Pre-K and above.
  • Admission is processed through the school’s Admissions Office. Parents are encouraged to contact the school early to secure a spot, especially due to limited availability.

Process:

  • Registration begins after birth, but parents must notify the school soon after the child is born.
  • A confirmed place requires the payment of a registration fee and a deposit.
  • Priority will be given to siblings of current students.
  • For any special educational needs, parents must disclose relevant information for proper planning and support.

Attendance Policy

Objective:
To ensure students attend school regularly and on time, fostering a culture of discipline and responsibility.

Policy:

  • Regular attendance is expected from all students.
  • Absences must be reported by parents before 9:00 AM on the day of absence, with a valid reason provided.
  • Students who miss more than 10% of school days per term may be subject to review by the school administration.
  • If a student is absent for extended periods, alternative learning options may be considered.

Process:

  • Absence forms should be submitted upon return for all extended absences (3 days or more).
  • Parents are encouraged to schedule appointments outside school hours to avoid disruptions to learning.

Behavior and Discipline Policy

Objective:
To maintain a safe and respectful environment where all students can learn and thrive.

Policy:

  • Students are expected to follow the school’s code of conduct, which includes being respectful to peers, staff, and the school environment.
  • Disruptive behavior, bullying, or any form of harassment will not be tolerated.

Process:

  • Minor infractions (e.g., lateness, minor disrespect) will result in a meeting with the teacher to discuss behavior and possible corrective action.
  • Serious infractions (e.g., bullying, violence) will involve the Headmistress, and may result in suspension or expulsion, depending on the severity.
  • Parents will be notified immediately in the event of serious behavioral concerns.

Safety and Security Protocols

Objective:
To ensure the safety of all students, staff, and visitors at Dreamers Academy.

Policy:

  • All students, staff, and visitors must sign in and out at the main office for security purposes.
  • Emergency drills (fire, earthquake, lockdown) will be conducted regularly.
  • The school will maintain a clear emergency contact list for all students.

Process:

  • All staff members are trained in first aid and emergency protocols.
  • Parents are required to provide updated emergency contact information.
  • In case of emergencies, parents will be notified immediately through our communication channels.

Inclusivity and Special Educational Needs (SEN) Policy

Objective:
To support students with diverse needs and create an inclusive learning environment for all.

Policy:

  • Dreamers Academy is committed to providing an inclusive education for all students, including those with special educational needs.
  • Reasonable accommodations will be made to support the individual learning needs of students.

Process:

  • Parents must inform the school of any special educational needs during the admission process.
  • The school will assess the needs of students and create Individual Education Plans (IEPs) if necessary.
  • Staff will receive training on inclusivity and how to support students with special needs.
  • SEN support services will be provided based on the child’s needs and the school’s ability to accommodate them.

Communication and Parent Involvement Policy

Objective:
To maintain open lines of communication between the school, parents, and the broader community.

Policy:

  • Parents are encouraged to participate in school events, parent-teacher conferences, and other school-related activities.
  • Clear communication regarding student progress, school events, and updates will be provided regularly.

Process:

  • Parents will receive regular newsletters, emails, and phone calls to stay informed about their child’s academic progress and school events.
  • Parent-teacher conferences will be held at least twice a year.
  • Parents are encouraged to reach out to teachers and school administration for any concerns or questions.
  • The school will provide multiple channels for feedback, including surveys and meetings.

Health and Wellness Policy

Objective:
To support the physical and emotional well-being of students and staff.

Policy:

  • The school will promote healthy eating habits and regular physical activity.
  • Students are encouraged to report any physical or emotional health concerns to staff.

Process:

  • A school nurse or designated staff member will be available for minor health concerns.
  • Parents must inform the school of any allergies, medical conditions, or special health needs.
  • Students will have access to outdoor play and physical education lessons, ensuring physical activity is part of the curriculum.
  • Mental health support will be available for students as needed, including counseling services.

Data Protection and Privacy Policy

Objective:
To safeguard the personal data and privacy of all students, staff, and families.

Policy:

  • Dreamers Academy will protect the confidentiality of personal information and ensure compliance with privacy laws.
  • Personal data will only be used for educational purposes and will not be shared without consent, except in emergencies or as required by law.

Process:

  • Parents must complete consent forms for the use of student images, videos, and any data shared with third parties (e.g., for assessments).
  • The school will store all student and family information securely.
  • Parents and guardians can request access to any records kept by the school regarding their child.

Flexible Scheduling

Objective:
To uphold the highest standards of academic integrity and honesty.

Policy:

  • Students are expected to produce original work and avoid plagiarism or cheating.
  • The school will promote a culture of academic honesty and responsibility.

Process:

  • Any instances of plagiarism or cheating will result in a discussion with the student and parent, and may lead to consequences such as a re-do of the assignment or a formal warning.
  • Students will be educated on academic integrity and how to avoid academic dishonesty.

School Fees and Payment Policy

Objective:
To ensure the timely payment of school fees to support the financial sustainability of Dreamers Academy.

Policy:

  • School fees are due at the beginning of each term. Payments can be made through bank transfer, cheque, or other approved methods.
  • Late payments may incur additional charges.

Process:

  • A clear breakdown of fees, including tuition, extracurricular activities, and other charges, will be provided to parents upon registration.
  • Payment reminders will be sent in advance of fee deadlines.
  • Parents are encouraged to inform the school in advance if they are experiencing financial hardship.

Support dreamers

Review and Revision

These policies and protocols are reviewed annually by the school administration to ensure they remain current and effective. Parents, students, and staff will be informed of any changes.
