Dreamers Academy embraces and revels in the diversity among our student community for the collective advantage of all. We endorse an inclusive educational model that caters to a limited number of students encompassing a wide spectrum of learning profiles, from mild to intensive needs. Our inclusive framework aims to deliver top-quality and challenging learning experiences tailored to fulfill the needs of every learner intentionally. The entire community upholds shared rights and responsibilities, working together towards realizing the Dreamers Academy Mission, Learning Principles, and Character Standards.
Dreamers Academy's Student Support program offers assistance to students who can thrive in our school setting. Students are expected to achieve curriculum objectives, which may be adjusted and customized based on individual needs and capabilities. Support may include in-class assistance, individual or small-group instruction, and aid for teachers in implementing varied instructional methods. Therefore, we emphasize a holistic school approach where educators employ personalized strategies to facilitate successful learning for all students. The nature and extent of such differentiated instruction vary according to the students' age, diagnosis, linguistic background, and abilities. Dreamers Academy tuition fees do not cover charges for additional services such as extended diagnostic assessments, speech therapy, language therapy, or occupational therapy, which may be recommended or required by the school.
Learning Support:
Learning Support educators collaborate closely with classroom teachers to provide assistance to student learning. The Learning Support framework is designed to aid students with diagnosed mild-to-moderate learning challenges, attention issues, behavioral difficulties, as well as those with short-term learning requirements. Students receive support in various settings and groupings, working towards individualized goals aligned with their Individual Education Plan or short-term learning needs.
English as an Additional Language (EAL):
The EAL program is structured to offer academic and social support to non-native English speakers. Its primary aim is to ensure English proficiency and academic success for all students while promoting bilingualism and cultural diversity. Encouraging parents to help children maintain and enhance their mother tongues is a key aspect based on current research on language and cognitive development. The diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds brought by non-native English speakers enrich the overall learning experience at our school, benefiting all students.
Intensive Learning Provision:
This provision caters to students with intensive needs such as diagnosed cognitive or developmental disabilities, medical requirements necessitating modified curricular expectations, and skills development. Typically, these students have mild to moderate learning disabilities requiring specialized instruction in functional academics, life skills, adaptive behavior, social skills, and emotional support. With an increased staff-to-student ratio, they are taught in co-taught classes, small groups, or individually for a significant portion of their school day, with a modified curriculum ensuring the highest possible inclusion in regular classes.
Behavior, Social, and Emotional Support:
Within the Student Support system, there is a comprehensive structure dedicated to assisting students with behavior, social, or emotional needs, overseen by the headmistress in collaboration with the school head teacher and Student Support teachers.
